Tie the knot at Leweston School

Leweston School is a secluded setting with unique rooms, stunning gardens and an alluring atmosphere. Steeped in more than 1,000 years of history, the manor house is set in 46 acres of beautiful Dorset parkland just three miles south of the Abbey town of Sherborne.

Built in the Palladian style in the late 18th-century, the interior celebrates the Art Deco period of the 1930s. The architect, Maxwell Ayrton, was also responsible for the original iconic Wembley Stadium and the house features the artwork of famed artist George Sheringham. The venue provides various wedding spaces, including the light and airy Drawing Room that can host 80 people comfortably for the vows and receptions. The 1930s were an age of sun worship when light was encouraged to flood into rooms through large windows or reflected in glass, so the space has a mirrored wall inspired by the large ocean liners of the day. It also contains a beautiful grand piano. The White and Black Halls create additional breakout spaces that can become a dancefloor or a relaxing space for guests.

The Belvedere is an enchanting feature inspired by the walk of The Villa D’Este near Florence. The statute at the entrance is a replica of the Florentine Boar, a copy of the Roman marble statue housed in the Uffizi Museum. A short, wooded walk leads to a natural crescent amphitheatre with a central well looking out over the Dorset countryside. The location is truly magical, making it a perfect setting for outdoor celebrations, with 75 seated and 150 standing. The setting is popular for ceremonies of all sizes, drink receptions and photoshoots. The Italian Garden is a beautiful setting for wedding breakfasts or evening drinks with 30 guests. Designed by Thomas Mawson in 1912, the enclosed garden is located outside the Drawing Room. It’s an idyllic spot for summer celebrations, set amongst the beautiful flowers and next to the central pond.

The multi-purpose Dining Room is the largest space available that can be used for dinners, weddings and private parties for up to 200. The size allows for a dancefloor while still having ample seating for guests. The venue’s wedding packages include exclusive use of the Sheringham Room as a private space for newlyweds. The team is also delighted to announce they’ve partnered with Sam Savage at South Coast Weddings to offer.
