The Eastbury Hotel, Sherborne is adding to its charms this summer with Victorian potting shed garden suites and a magical woodland spa. Following the success of the beach huts and boutique spa at sister hotel, Cary Arms and Spa on the South Devon coast, owners and renowned hoteliers Peter and Lana de Savary have worked closely with their architects and designers to work their magic on The Eastbury, their latest boutique hotel in the historic market town of Sherborne in Dorset. Tucked away in a leafy corner of the beautiful walled gardens, the spa is due to open on 1st September, following the review of five new potting shed garden suites on 1st August. Built from local stone, complete with sedum and moss roof and a circular doorway, the quirky and enchanting building will house the boutique spa, consisting of two treatment rooms (including a couple's room), a hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room, exercise area and private relaxation space. The potting shed garden suites have been designed to offer guests the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the glorious hotel gardens. The stylish new dog-friendly suites take inspiration from traditional English Victorian potting sheds and will be located discreetly within the landscaping of the garden while preserving the integrity of the historical brick garden wall. Private terraces, fire pits, sedum roofs and tasteful interiors will complete the experience.
As well as a romantic retreat, the country house hotel is an exclusive-use wedding venue, with 26 rooms including the new suites. The Garden Room is licensed for weddings and offers a lovely space for ceremonies and celebrations. It's also a beautifully romantic spot for a wedding-night stay or mini-moon. The refurbishment of the Grade II listed building, under the direction of the owners and their interior designer Kathleen Fraser, has included a full refresh of guest rooms and residents' areas. Seasons, the multi-award-winning restaurant with panoramic views of the gardens and al fresco dining, has also introduced a new more informal house menu, showcasing delicious classic dishes that can be enjoyed alongside the creative a la carte menu. For the ultimate gastronomic experience, there's also a seven-course tasting menu.
