Tips for making the perfect wedding gift hamper

Struggling to find the perfect gift for the couple who has everything this wedding season? Hampers are one of the best wedding gifts for newlyweds because of their practicality, variety, versatility and thoughtfulness. As well as being the perfect personalised and affordable gift that can be done on any budget.

Cartwright & Butler's hamper and recipe developer, Karolina Glowacka, has given 8 tips on building the ultimate wedding gift hamper for the newlywed couple to continue to enjoy even months after their big day.

  1. Choose the perfect hamper to suit the couple. From traditional wicker baskets to wooden crates and pastel-coloured tins, a luxurious hamper should have an elegant and sturdy container. Take a look at the couples home interior, and choose a hamper that will fit perfectly with the decor. This way the couple can continue to enjoy your gift long after the treats stored within have been eaten!
  2. Consider the couple's interests and pick a theme. Make sure to remember the couple's interests and hobbies when choosing both the hamper and its contents. If they're fans of going for picnics, consider choosing a wicker basket so the newlyweds can reuse the hamper basket once they've finished indulging in the hamper's contents!
  3. Include a variety of premium products to the couple's tastes. Add a mix of luxurious items, such as artisanal coffees, teas and chocolates, fine wines, or gourmet snacks depending on the couple's personal preferences.
  4. Add a touch of indulgence. Opt here for quality over quantity. Help the couple fill their newlywed pantry with items they may not necessarily be able to buy for themselves but will appreciate and savour at a later time.
  5. Choose a mix of practical and sentimental items. Combine practical gifts, like kitchen gadgets or home decor, with sentimental items, like a handwritten note or photo album which the couple can cherish for months after the wedding itself.
  6. Consider the presentation. Arrange the items in the hamper in an attractive and appealing way. Start with the bulkier, larger items and place them at the back of your hamper to add stability. Then, layer the couples favourite smaller items on top for easier access!
  7. Don't forget decorative pieces. Add decorative elements, such as ribbons or flowers, to enhance the presentation of the hamper. Take this as the perfect opportunity to also showcase the personalised element of this gift - decorate to your hearts content!
  8. Add a personal touch. Finally, include a handwritten note with a heartfelt message and sign it with your name to make the gift more personal and memorable for the newlyweds.
Hampers are an excellent wedding gift choice for newlyweds as they're a thoughtful and meaningful gesture that can help the newlyweds start their married life on a positive note. Fully customisable, hampers can be made however large or small you need them to be. They can cater to every budget and taste, and their variety will help the happy couple keep the celebrations going long after their wedding day.

Expert says prenups aren't just for the rich and famous

Legal experts at Richard Nelson LLP are urging Brits to rethink who prenups are really for. While often seen as something reserved for high-profile couples, data suggests they remain largely overlooked in everyday relationships. Just 7 percent of divorced Brits had a prenuptial agreement in place before separating, highlighting a significant gap between perception and reality. Regionally, attitudes vary. Manchester has emerged as the UK's 'prenup capital', with 13 percent of divorced couples having one in place, compared to 8 percent in London and 11 percent in Birmingham. Meanwhile, cities including Liverpool and Southampton reported no uptake among those surveyed.
