After experiencing redundancy during the 2020 lockdown, Taryn Barnard decided to take the plunge and turn her passion for baking into a thriving business.
Born out of a dream and a leap of faith, Taryn's Cakery was created. What began as a small venture, offering postal orders for brownies and cookies, quickly blossomed as she expanded her offerings to include celebration cakes, cupcakes and cookies when the world began to reopen.
Last year marked a significant turning point for Taryn when she started accepting wedding cake orders, and that's when her business really took off.
With a philosophy that less is more, her cakes reflect a simple yet elegant style, showcasing her belief in the beauty of simplicity while ensuring each creation is as delicious as it is refined. It's been an incredible journey for Taryn, and she feels immensely grateful to have built a loyal customer base that trusts her to create cakes for their most cherished occasions.
Favourite flavour? Taryn says, "On our menu, we feature traditional flavours and fillings, with my personal favourite being raspberry and white chocolate sponge filled with zesty lemon curd – a combination that has also won the hearts of our lovely customers."
