Celebrant-led ceremonies are the big trend for 2024

Did you know, you have choices about who holds your wedding ceremony? With celebrant led ceremonies becoming a must-have for many couples, we spoke to independent wedding celebrant Suzi from Celebrations by Suzi...

What is a celebrant led ceremony and why should we consider one? Well, if you're imagining a tailormade, memorable and celebratory ceremony, with personal vows and promises that speak to your hopes for the future - and perhaps a symbolic ritual or two - then a celebrant led ceremony is for you! As your chosen wedding celebrant, I quite literally make it my business to ensure your wedding day ceremony is truly one of a kind and reflects you and your story perfectly. And you can pretty much do it anytime, anywhere.

Sounds great - so what's possible and what are the benefits? One key benefit is that you get to choose who stands with you on this most special day. I'll be a friendly face at the end of the aisle to help calm any nerves and celebrate your love. I'll work closely with you to ensure your ceremony reflects your wishes and personality. We'll have fun including and enjoying so much more than just the legal statements and prescribed vows. There will be no restrictions on your vows, the movement of your photographer, on music, readings, or moment-making rituals like a handfasting - and we can include religious content and alcohol too. We can even perform the ceremony outdoors with no quibble – except perhaps for the weather! What you will have in abundance is choice.

OK, so what can't you do? I can't legally marry you. My couples and their two witnesses head to the Register Office in advance of their Wedding Day for a simple 2+2 ceremony, usually followed by a nice lunch! There you make the statutory declarations and sign your marriage certificate. Then I will be able and honoured to announce you as married on your Wedding Day in front of all your friends and family in a celebratory ceremony – one that really stands out from any other! Hurray!

But my venue is licensed – can I have a celebrant ceremony? Absolutely! Your venue will be thrilled to host you however you choose to celebrate.

Brilliant! Where can our couples find out more? Feel free to call me for a no-obligation discovery call or meet me at the Rackley's Barn and Ascot Racecourse County Wedding Events in April. Let's make sure you enjoy your day entirely your way, with a bespoke ceremony written just for you!

Experts Warn Against Using AI for Wedding Vows

Experts Warn Against Using AI for Wedding Vows

With peak wedding season approaching, experts are warning couples not to rely on AI to write one of the most personal parts of their big day – their vows. A survey by jewellers Queensmith has revealed that more than half (55%) of UK brides and grooms are now using AI tools to help write their wedding vows and speeches, raising questions about authenticity, originality and even potential legal grey areas. The findings come amid a growing debate around AI-written vows after a registrar in the eastern Netherlands saw a marriage called into question when AI was used to help write the ceremony script. In the case, the District Court of Overijssel ruled that "no marriage has been established" after it emerged the registrar had relied on ChatGPT to draft parts of the ceremony. The case has sparked wider concerns that AI-generated wording could unintentionally mirror existing vows or scripts found online, raising questions about originality and authenticity.
