Hampshire's Thruxton Race Circuit hosting retro race day
Looking for an alternative hen/stag or sten do? Then we have just the event for you! Thruxton Race Circuit in Hampshire is hosting its annual Thruxton Historic - a two-day event that showcases the finest historic and classic motor racing and displays in the country. The fastest race circuit in the UK, the event attracts legendary machines for 12 races, and this year for the first time, visitors will be able to enjoy vintage aircraft flying and displays as well as a flypast each day. And there's something for all the family to enjoy too, creating a really special weekend to remember!
There will also be racing on track from the Jochen Rindt Trophy, the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy & Stirling Moss Trophy, Historic Touring Car Challenge, Sixties Touring Car Challenge & U2TC, Pre '63 GT, Midget & Sprites Challenge, Jaguar Classic Challenge, a trio of races from the Historic Racing Drivers Club including the Jack Sears Trophy, Dunlop Allstars and Classic Alfa Challenge and much, much more.
The Land Rover Legends team will be featuring again this year as a separate side-show with some rare and unusual vehicles in unique displays as well as the National Land Rover Awards, an exclusive Land Rover parade on the race circuit and specialist exhibitors and traders. Land Rover Legends is the club that gives Land Rover lovers the best opportunity ever to showcase their vehicles, their enthusiasm and their stories and Thruxton is a major event in their calendar of special events.
Over 50 car clubs will be displaying all types of car and eras, providing a fascinating side-show., and new for 2022 is an aviation element to the event.
There'll be vintage aircraft including planes and helicopters flying in to form a static display each day. And The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will also perform a Spitfire flypast each day. To find out more visit here.
Away from the racing and displays, there will be a host of family-friendly activities including, parades, simulators, circuit rides 4x4 rides, live music, free camping, a trade village and much more. And for a relaxing break, there are plenty of places to find delicious food and drink, including in the new, state-of-the-art Thruxton Centre. Various types of ticket are available including a VIP package to include exclusivity of the upper floor and balcony of the Thruxton Centre (limited to a small number of places), admission into the Circuit, access to the Paddock, a free Race Meeting programme and food and drink (non-alcoholic) throughout the day. From best mates to distant relatives: Brits reveal the wedding gift hierarchy
How much should you spend on a wedding gift? It seems the answer depends on just how well you know the happy couple. New research from One4all Gift Cards has revealed that almost half of Brits (49%) would spend less on a wedding gift if they were not particularly close to the couple. The relationship came out ahead of travel and accommodation costs (38%) and paying for a hen or stag do (28%) when it comes to factors influencing how much guests are prepared to spend. For those closest to them, Brits consider an average of £77 per person to be an acceptable wedding gift. The most popular amount was between £50 and £100, selected by 43% of respondents, while 36% believe spending up to £50 is perfectly acceptable. Just 5% would spend more than £200.

Revealed: England and Wales’ most common wedding anniversary date as August accounts for nearly one in six
1 September is the most common wedding anniversary date, with an average of 1,557 marriages taking place on the date, new analysis has revealed. The research, from drinks and gifting retailer Bottled and Boxed, analysed 22 years of marriage registration data from the Office for National Statistics to identify the dates when couples across England and Wales are most likely to be celebrating their wedding anniversaries each year. Every date in the top 10 falls between late July and early September, showing how heavily the most common anniversaries are concentrated in late summer. August is the most common month for wedding anniversaries, accounting for 15.7% of all marriages analysed, with an average of 1,254 couples married per day.
