'Tis the season

Kirsty and Phil's magical winter wedding featured festive and personal touches throughout.

Kirsty Gwyther married Philip Gough at St Mary's Church, Twyford followed by a reception at Lainston House Hotel, Winchester on 25th November, 2017.

We fell in love with the venue as the house and barn are absolutely stunning. The staff were always smiling and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us in the lead-up and on the big day itself; nothing was ever too much trouble.

'Tis the season: Image 2I was overwhelmed by how well all the flowers came together. I loved my bouquet and all the other arrangements.

'Tis the season: Image 2b The bridesmaids' navy blue gowns went well with the men's suits. We did our own make-up and my friend Claire Varney styled our hair.

I planned our whole wedding from start to finish with the help of my parents and Phil. We kept a lot of the finishing touches to ourselves as we wanted to surprise everyone on the day.

'Tis the season: Image 4I loved my dress I knew it was the one as soon as I tried it on.

'Tis the season: Image 4b We made pine cone arrangements with candles in the middle for the top table and to dot around the venue.

'Tis the season: Image 5
We incorporated faux fur jars into the theme which our florist Jo used for her beautiful flower arrangements.

'Tis the season: Image 6We gave bags of five almonds as favours with personalised wooden hearts giving the traditional meaning for each one – health, happiness, wealth, fertility and long life.

'Tis the season: Image 6b Our tables were named after Santa's nine reindeers.

'Tis the season: Image 7
I embroidered the names of each of our 80 guests on to handkerchiefs for the place names and also made personalised ribbons for the children's cuddly reindeer bears.

'Tis the season: Image 8We had various reindeer decorations in the barn, with a tinge of powder blue throughout.

'Tis the season: Image 8b Phil and I always envisioned having a big wedding cake and it ended up being 3ft tall.

'Tis the season: Image 9Our first dance was to Ed Sheran's Perfect, which Phil chose because he says the wording is very appropriate from him to me.

'Tis the season: Image 9b We also gave our guests special wooden magnets as a thank you gift for joining us on our special day.
