The McDonald Gallery is a magnificent function room within The Gurkha Museum. The Gallery houses the Museum’s unique and extremely valuable picture, silver, medal and badge collections and as such is an integral part of the Museum display area. The Gallery also features two Victoria Crosses on display. It is used for exhibitions and education workshops and is available to hire for private functions.
The Museum itself is set in the beautiful and Peninsula Barracks, a historic site in central Winchester. The building was chosen over 400 years ago by King Charles II as the site of a palace, designed in the manner of Versailles, to overlook Winchester Cathedral. The Gallery in the Gurkha Museum is a small and intimate venue, a grand location for any wedding and steeped in history!
With close proximity (just a two minute walk) to Winchester's Registry Office, The Gurkha Museum is the perfect venue for a small and intimate wedding reception within the grand backdrop of the Peninsula Barracks.
