Being in this industry means I'm lucky enough to visit incredible locations – it's an opportunity I'll never take for granted. So, I felt very fortunate when the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority team reached out about a trip to East Winds Resort on the northwest coast. Before I knew it, my partner and I were boarding a flight for our eight-hour journey to the beautiful island. Oh, and did I mention it's right on the beach? After landing and breezing through immigration, we drove 90 minutes from Hewanorra International Airport to the Resort, giving us the perfect chance to soak in the island's vibrant spirit. From lush greenery and palm trees at every turn, to bursts of colour throughout the towns and the warm, welcoming locals, it was clear from the start that this island had captured our hearts. From winding through a rainforest to cruising by the coast, every moment was an experience!

Phun times in Phuket

A twin-centre trip to Thailand's capital and its largest island ticks every box fortravel editor Richard Jones. The views of Bangkok's neon-drenched skyscrapers were a distant memory amidst the swaying tropical palm trees. And instead of roaring motorcycle engines and car horns ringing in my ears, my senses were soothed by the Andaman Sea's gently lapping waves. "It's just more relaxed here," explained tour guide Teddy, as we travelled along the crescent-shaped Patong Beach in Phuket. "We call it the island life. "The serene tropical paradise felt like a world away from bustling Bangkok where I had spent the last three days. That's not to say I hadn't had a blast in the Thai capital, but by combining the two very different destinations, you can end up with a memorable twin-centre post-wedding getaway.

AVA Moment in Mexico

It's one of my favourite holiday moments – when I first pull back the curtains or drapes, slide the glass doors open and admire the view from the balcony. On this occasion, the vista from the eighth floor of AVA Resort Cancun was unlike anything I've seen before. The pool was colossal, and while bathers were attempting to stay cool in its baby blue waters; on its shores, flamingo pink-shirted servers weaved in between the sun beds and cabanas carrying trays of frozen drinks and hot snacks.

The Magic of Mersea Island

The honeymoon is a highly anticipated holiday and the often-questioned next step for any newlywed, and with this comes a lot of pressure to get it right. But who's to say a two-week long tour of Scotland's most prestigious castles, staying in the best rooms possible, isn't as good as the Maldives? It's all about who you're with, as opposed to where you go. However, since coming out of lockdown and the world returning to business as usual, there has been a rise in abroad honeymoons, more specifically to destinations far from bustling civilisations.

One of the highlights is the Safari Lodges, offering a distinctive overnight stay that lets guests immerse themselves in nature and watch wildlife up close. This was something I'd wanted to do for some time, so I was thrilled when the team invited my family and me to experience the lion lodge.

Approaching via the gated driveaway, the historic Billesley Manor stands proud in the background on the edge of a manicured lawn with feature water fountain, forcing its arriving guests to pause at this sight to behold. Offering the picture-perfect property for an idyllic getaway, my husband and I were eager to explore this 16th-century country manor house and its 11-acres of grounds – the epitome of romantic luxury.

The Cambridge Belfry Hotel & Spa, part of The QHotels Collection, was designed for you to relax and recharge. The location is ideal: just a seven-mile drive outside of Cambridge's lively city centre. That's if you want to leave the comfort of your calm, lakeside location – I didn't! Enjoying the escapism, I indulged in a self-care day. After checking in, I donned my robe and sat down to a chilled glass of the most perfect prosecco and a beautifully dressed, fresh pea shoot salad followed by a bowl of juicy melon and blueberries.

Following the joys, stresses and excitement of wedding planning, when it comes to your honeymoon, it's time to breathe deeply and slow down. Capo d'Orso, one of the properties in the family-run Delphina Hotels & Resorts portfolio, is the ideal place to get in touch with nature and get to know your wedded partner all over again. It truly is a couple's paradise, where privacy is paramount. Even during peak season, the hotel has so many intimate spots, hidden hammocks and secluded nooks for you to sunbathe and read a book or simply enjoy a glass of wine gazing out to sea, you'll never feel overlooked. The hotel is nestled beautifully into its surroundings. Expect abundant indigenous plants, ancient olive and juniper trees and winding footpaths that have been blended into the landscape. The hotel has access to two beaches that can be reached by foot, Cala Selvaggia and Cala Capra. And if you'd rather relax poolside, enjoy the saltwater pool or book in at the spa. I, however, was drawn to the wooden solariums set just on the seashore, of which there are five to choose from. These sunbathing decks, float on the sea, allowing you to listen to the lapping ocean beneath from the comfort of your sun lounger. Bliss.

A romantic escape - in Portugal

Bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, Cascais in Portugal offers the best of everything: beaches, attracting lovers of vitamin D and surfers alike; the enchanting streets of the historic centre; delicious restaurants and golf courses for athletes and amateurs; this diverse town would make an unforgettable honeymoon destination. The mild climate and breathtaking views of Portugal continue to attract people from all over the world, all year round. Just over 30 minutes by train from Libson, Cascais is close enough to feel like you're getting away from the hustle and bustle, but not so far that you feel removed from a European capital. Besides its coastal beauty, the imposing presence of the Sintra Mountains, which rise as one of the green and natural highlights of the town, is a picturesque setting that couples will spend hours admiring.
