AVI-8 Celebrates the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day

In honour of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day), AVI-8 is proud to launch a limited-edition collection featuring three models, limited to 800 pieces. VE Day dates back to the 8th of May in 1945, when the world celebrated Germany's surrender to the allies, marking the end of the Second World War. Churchill addressed the British nation, and this moment became known as VE Day.

Eight decades later, AVI-8 captures this historic triumph with a meticulously designed collection that pays homage to the aircrafts and pilots who contributed to the victory.

Each timepiece from the VE-Day 80th Anniversary Limited Edition Collection is inspired by the aircrafts; the P-51 Mustang Patriot Automatic, Spitfire Type 300 Automatic, and Hawker Hurricane Kent Automatic. Designed in two vintage colourways, it reflects the era's aesthetics, with hues from wartime newspapers and pilot uniforms.

The luminous dial also includes subtle historical references, such as a 'V' replacing the number 8 on the date wheel (honouring May 8th and Churchill's 'V for Victory'), and Morse code for 'V.' The markers at eight and five are also emphasised, symbolising the date, highlighting how each timepiece tells a story of victory.
