David Mellor Family Jewellers has turned the page on a new chapter in its long history. The independent family business has relocated to a new store in the Swan Centre, Eastleigh, three times bigger than its previous one. Great for couples on the hunt for their wedding jewellery, the business has already seen an increase in footfall. With three stores in Hampshire, as well as an on-site jewellery workshop specialising in repairs, design and manufacture, the company has channelled its modern and approachable ethos into the move. The highly anticipated diamond episode of BBC's All That Glitters: Britain's Next Jewellery Star, hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan, aired last night with a feel-good story that couldn't fail to melt the heart. In more positive news, the most recent announcement from the UK government has given the go-ahead for weddings to begin a slow return to normality, starting on March 8th, with the aim of lifting restrictions in full by June 21st. A big Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding high five to Dorset's Goldcrest Jewellers, winners of The Best Family Run Jewellery Business 2020 South West England in the SME News Southern Enterprise Awards 2020. It's the latest accolade for the multi-award winning business and their biggest to date. "As you can imagine we are completely blown away," says owner Neil Strudwick. A goldsmith with more than 30 years experience Neil launched the business in 2010 with his wife Donna who runs the retail side while he's in the workshop doing repairs, making display and customer-designed pieces including wedding rings.

Hampshire-based jewellery designer Vicki Rawles has been putting her time in lockdown to good use updating her website www.pearlescentjewellerydesigns.co.ukA specialist in beautiful bridal pearls, with many of her customers cancelling their big day due to COVID-19, she's been working on refining and launching her new-look site ready for all the weddings to come.With more than 20 years in the creative industry Vicki has developed her jewellery-making skills to specialise in bespoke silver pieces including bridal jewellery and accessories combining beautiful freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals. "The pearls I use are not always uniform and have their own original features which makes every piece I design unique," she adds. Inspired by her love of nature her work features organic shapes and textured pieces.
