September/October 2020

There’s one thing about working in the world of weddings, even in the depths of a global pandemic, there’s always something to smile about. We’ve been inspired by stories of suppliers and venues going above and beyond to help couples cope with the disappointment of having to postpone their big day. Businesses have been busy behind the scenes, staying in touch via video calls and sending out messages of reassurance to keep all you newlyweds-to-be out there excited for your big day to come.  To help reboot the feelgood factor, this issue we bring you not three but four real weddings. Let’s face it we could all do with an extra dose of joy, so we’re delighted to share with you Sarah and Freddy’s post-lockdown wedding at the Abbey Church, Beaulieu, complete with radiant bride, beaming groom, some great hats and social distancing too. Turn to page 49 to find out more.

Spreading the love, we showcase a whole world of fun activities available in the region for those all-important pre-wedding celebrations. Everything from chilled afternoon tea with your best girls to archery in the New Forest, flip to page 57 for the full lowdown. Bridal boutique owners are also on the case with help and advice on finding the one, so if you’re on the hunt for your dream dress, don’t miss their top tips starting on page 69.

As well as all the regular must-reads, this issue is packed with great venues, ideas and inspiration to keep you on track and don’t forget to get in touch for the chance to have your wedding featured in the magazine.

Winchester Cathedral

Celebrate your big day at Winchester Cathedral and you can be sure of a wealth of album-worthy photos. The cathedral’s historic buildings and beautiful gardens offer a fabulous setting for your post-vows celebrations. Take your pick from two standout reception spaces; the secluded garden marquee and refectory or the stunning Wessex Centre in the cathedral’s Inner Close. Enjoy the best of the old and the new and combine elegant heritage with your own modern twist. The lined ivory marquee, complete with carpet and chandeliers, provides a blank canvas to make your own and can host up to 120 guests. Set in the walled garden, overlooked by the cathedral, it’s an idyllic spot for a drinks reception.

The Wessex Centre can accommodate up to 72 people and is a striking modern building with its own private walled garden. Built from sustainable materials and locally sourced timber, the floor-to-ceiling windows add to the light and airy atmosphere and provide spectacular views of the cathedral too.
