With spring approaching, we’re excited to embrace this beautiful season and see what couples have up their sleeves. The weather can be unpredictable this time of year, so it’s always essential to devise a wet-weather plan to relax, knowing you’ve covered all your bases in the run-up to your wedding – especially for those opting for al fresco celebrations. The seasonal availability for flowers offers an excellent choice for the time of year; think daffodils, tulips, hyacinth, crocus, Lily of the Valley, Iris and more blooms. It’s an excellent opportunity to embrace a colourful and bold colour scheme using nature’s palette. Who doesn’t like abundant flowers from bouquets, gorgeous arrangements and installations? Remember, you can move your florals throughout the day to ensure a picture-perfect backdrop for the vows, wedding breakfast and reception while staying on budget. Floral arches are my personal favourite option!
Expect Pantone’s Colour of The Year, Peach Fuzz, to grace the wedding industry. The compassionate and nurturing soft peach shade conveying a heartfelt kindness will surely become a huge movement that we’re so excited to see. Another popular trend making a statement is champagne towers that add a touch of fun and class to weddings while serving guests a glass of bubbly.
If you’re at the start of your planning journey, you’ve come to the right place because we cover everything from fashion, beauty, cakes, venues and more. When searching for a property, I advise seeing if any of your shortlisted venues are hosting wedding shows, as spring is a popular time for these events. It allows you to look around the spaces, meet local suppliers, discuss your big day and ask plenty of questions.
For those creeping closer to your special day, we have plenty of last minute tips and tricks to ensure a stress-free wedding and the perfect finishing touches for that extra wow factor. So, no matter where you’re at with wedding planning, there’s something for everyone.
That’s all from me; happy planning!

Hinton St Mary Estate
Hinton St Mary Estate is a family-owned, private estate in North Dorset that sits on the River Stour and farms on more than 700 hectares of the Blackmore Vale, with an additional 40 hectares of protected woodland.
The Tithe Barn is approached through a long avenue of beech trees, with horses grazing on one side and open arable fields on the other. As pairs enter through the gates to the manor, there’s a sense of history, privilege and secrecy about what lies within. It’s a calming haven of tranquillity with goldfish and lilies on the pond, and then the modest majesty of the building hits.
The Grade II Listed Medieval barn, built in the 15th -century, was converted into a hall at the turn of the 1900s. The impressive timber ceiling was lovingly restored with collar-braced trusses, adding the wow factor. Licenced for wedding ceremonies, the team can host 100-seated loved ones for dinners or accommodate up to 150 dancing guests for receptions. Throw open both sets of double doors to the walled garden, offering privacy and an idyllic setting for drinks receptions.
Venture through the gates to discover the landscaped gardens of the Manor House, the most romantic backdrop for wedding photographs amongst honeysuckle and lavender; there’s a sunken garden, steps, statues and secret pathways.
The Summerhouse is the stone folly, nestled in the corner of the Tithe Barn’s walled garden. It’s licensed by Dorset Registrars for wedding ceremonies for those wanting outdoor celebrations and something a bit different. It’s the most romantic spot to watch the sun go down across the estate at dusk, but there’s enough seating for that special group of friends.
The Tithe Barn is available to hire for exclusive use on a dry-hire basis. The team only hosts one wedding a weekend, so couples will have time to create dream weddings. There’s also a list of tried and tested talented suppliers to help with wedding planning if needed.
Three quaint and quirky cottages are available to let, all within walking distance from the Tithe Barn and the local pub. The Lodge and the Manor Stables sleep four and were renovated by the team in 2020 to a high standard. The bedrooms can be made up into twin rooms or doubles. The master bedroom in Manor Stables is perfect for bridal preparation. No.18 is a romantic thatched cottage just for two.

These daily habits are ruining your wedding ring |
|
If you've been the lucky recipient of a diamond ring or a piece of jewellery, Nilesh Rakholia, jewellery expert and founder of Abelini, has shared exactly how to care for your precious diamonds to ensure they last a lifetime... Nilesh says: "While it can be tempting to wear precious items such as an engagement ring all the time, daily habits such as cooking and cleaning can damage your jewellery. To avoid this, we always recommend removing jewellery before showering or washing up because the soap can cause a film to form, which can leave rings and bracelets looking dull.
