January/February 2022

Welcome to this landmark edition of Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding! We’re 90 issues young and despite all the challenges of the past nearly two years, we’re here raising a glass to our special anniversary and all the weddings to come. It’s been tough for everyone, but throughout the restrictions and uncertainty, one of the many shining lights has been the resilience of the wedding industry and couples patiently waiting for their big day. Many had to cancel their weddings last year, some multiple times, before finally being able to tie the knot once lockdowns eased. Suppliers have rallied to provide support, pulling out all the stops to help people reschedule and adapt their plans. This issue we’re lucky enough to be able share a tiny snapshot of just some of the weddings that have taken place in the region – proof, if proof were needed, that love wins no matter what! With the Christmas and New Year proposal season adding to demand, we’re looking forward to bringing you lots more lovely local weddings to inspire and excite you in the months ahead.

For those starting out 2022 with a sparkly new ring on their finger, firstly congratulations from your new best friend! We’ll be here throughout your journey with all the latest wedding trends, bridal fashion and beauty insight, local venues, suppliers and wedding news from your doorstep. And when your day comes, which it surely will, don’t forget to stay in touch for your chance to share the joy with our readers. Just click here to get involved.

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2022!

The Elvetham Hotel

Set in 35 acres of Hampshire countryside, the grounds of this historic gem are magical in winter with a dusting of snow. The striking building oozes history and charm; a stunning example of Victorian architecture it boasts a wealth of inviting indoor wedding spaces and standout features. Think wood-panelled walls, a spectacular staircase, fireplaces and oak floors – the stuff that winter wedding dreams are made of!

Arrive at the tower over the main entrance, step inside and be prepared for plenty of stop-stare moments. The grandeur of the Oak Room provides an elegant setting for indoor ceremonies. The large windows allow the light to flood in and there’s a statement fireplace at the spot where you say ‘I do’. Celebrate afterwards with a reception for up to 100 guests in the magnificent Library. The largest room in the house there’s an ornate stone fireplace, original bookcases and plenty of natural light. What’s more, at the end of the night you can retreat to one of the venue’s elegant bedrooms and wake up feeling refreshed and revived, ready to relive the big day with your friends and family over breakfast.
