January/February 2019

Firstly, let me wish all our readers a very happy New Year and if you’re starting out 2019 with a sparkly new ring on your finger – congratulations, the journey starts here!

The festive season is a peak period for proposals and with Valentine’s Day around the corner, love is in the air and there’s a buzz of expectation. It’s not just the engagement ring that’s in the spotlight, we showcase a whole range of jewellery and accessories to make your big day shine, starting on page 63.

We’re excited for all the fabulous spring and summer weddings to come and although the first green shoots may still seem a way off, we’re already dreaming of fabulous florals and pretty pastels. Check out our moodboards, starting on page 69, for a colour burst of inspiration.

However, while the long winter nights are still with us, now is the perfect time to get cracking with the planning. Doing your homework is vital, so while the weather’s still frosty outside, you can cosy up with your other half to browse the pages of this issue. Packed full of wedding loveliness, it’s a treasure trove of inspiration and local wedding experts on your doorstep. Don’t forget to save the details of all your favourite things, better still, create a Pinterest page. Your suppliers will love you for it, as it makes their job so much easier if they can share your big-day vision.

Happy planning!

Oakley Hall Hotel

Following recent refurbishment, this 18th-century Georgian manor house has been transformed into a contemporary and elegant venue. Surrounded by 315 acres of countryside, guests can enjoy a spot of croquet on the lawns, take a scenic jog around the private running track or for something more relaxing, take a stroll through the enchanting woodland walk or a tour of the kitchen garden, dating back to 1860.

With eight stunning wedding spaces, traditional historic features and 50 luxurious bedrooms, it boasts a fascinating past and provides an inspirational big-day setting. The Garden Suite in the main house has a fresh, contemporary feel and can host 160 ceremony guests, 120 for the wedding breakfast and an extra 30 for the evening reception. Located on the ground floor it has a large bay window and patio doors leading straight on to the Garden Terrace. For more intimate ceremonies, the Library is bursting with charm and can accommodate up to 60 loved ones.

The new Garden Pavilion is the venue’s most recent and luxurious reception space, complete with three stunning chandeliers, heating and air-conditioning, it’s perfect for weddings all year round. There’s also a high-tech lighting system, starlit ceiling, colourchanging uplighters and a new dancefloor, so you can party the night away in style.
