July/August 2020

I promise not to use the word unprecedented or get too sentimental but I’d just like to give a virtual hug to all the couples who’ve had to postpone their weddings. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to see your big day pass by while separated from many of your family and friends. Although that all important date, ringed in red on the calendar, may be crossed out for now, there will be a new one to look forward to!

As I write this, the first rays of light have started to appear at the end of the tunnel, with most suppliers starting to open their doors. None of us can be sure exactly what the new normal is going to look like in the immediate future but many suppliers have been busy behind the scenes sprucing up their venues, studios, salons and boutiques and fine-tuning their offering ready to hit the ground running.

We’ve been here throughout the journey, staying in touch, talking to local businesses and keeping everyone updated via our website, social media and e-magazines – all free to download during these difficult times to help keep you positive and excited for your wedding to come.

This issue there’s plenty to smile about as we’re spotlighting some of the region’s wedding venues with glorious gardens from page 23 and dipping into romantic locations by the Dorset coast on page 17. Don’t miss our A to Z guide of wedding entertainment starting on page 79 as well as a wealth of tips and advice from local experts covering everything from looking your best and bridal beauty to latest fashion, bridal trends and more.

Enjoy reading and stay safe!

The Cottonwood Boutique Hotel

If the cry of the gulls and the sound of the waves are on your big-day playlist, then this stylish boutique hotel is sure to impress. Perched on the clifftop, with panoramic views over Bournemouth bay and beyond, it’s a stunning location for a coastal-chic wedding. The hotel retains all the elegance and charm of the original Edwardian villa and offers a choice of opulent wedding suites licensed for ceremonies with standout features including beautiful chandeliers and original fireplaces.

You can tie the knot in the Gallery, a romantic pink room with space for up to 50 guests, or outside in the sea-facing gardens and enjoy the panoramic views with as many as 100 of your family and friends. With the beach just a stone’s throw away there’s no shortage of great photo opportunities. The hotel’s largest room the Garden Restaurant has its own bar, built-in dancefloor and double doors leading out to the gardens and can cater for receptions with up to 150 guests.
