March/April 2023

Hello lovely readers, and welcome to another issue of Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding!

Spring is finally here, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! After being cooped up indoors trying to stay warm, I can’t wait to venture outdoors and embrace more sunshine – here I come vitamin D! The time of year is all about getting organised and new beginnings, which is perfect if you’re trying to plan your wedding.

Spring nuptials are always a fabulous season to tie the knot with more seasonal produce, fun colour palettes, plenty of natural lighting for photographs and more flowers to pick from. Gardens will be in full bloom, meaning you’ll naturally have dream-worthy backdrops to take advantage of – cherry blossoms are my favourite way to add the wow factor to stunning images.

Ensure you have a back-up plan if you’re looking to exchange vows outdoors, as the British weather can be unpredictable. A marquee or indoor space will provide loved ones with cover in case of any April showers. Photographers can capture stunning images no matter the weather, so embrace the rain with a funky pair of wellies and an umbrella for the ultimate photo shoot. For those that have just started planning their spring wedding, keep in mind any national holidays or events such as Mother’s Day or school holidays, as many people will be making plans in advance.

Before you go, check out our stunning weddings and shoots that are bursting full of inspiration. Here you’ll find  talented companies, stunning images and wow-factor details. We’ve also gathered perfect venues for ceremonies and receptions – your dream location could be a few pages away. We’ve not only focused on properties in and around Southampton but rustic venues too.

That’s all from me; happy planning!

Olivia Gibson, Editor.

Botley Park Hotel & Spa offers the ideal setting for all types of weddings, with unrivalled elegance at every turn.

The venue offers seven different locations for ceremonies, which can accommodate between 40 to 350 loved ones. The Hawthorne Suite is popular for intimate nuptials with 60 people for the vows and wedding breakfast. For larger events, the Fair Oak Suite can host up to 280 for the “I dos” and 300 in the evenings.

Couples can book to visit the on-site spa before their big day, which offers multiple ELEMIS treatments to calm those last-minute nervous and pamper nearlyweds – it’s the ideal location to relax and unwind.

The dedicated wedding coordinators will work with pairs while ensuring everything runs smoothly. They can arrange a personalised firework display to end the night with a bang for the ultimate wow factor.

With 130 on-site bedrooms, guests can rest their heads after dancing the night away.

Five ways to stay fit and healthy with a hectic work schedule

A hectic work schedule can often mean that other parts of our lives our pushed to the side. Many people find it challenging to have a positive work-life balance, often not being able to find the time to stay fit and eat well. With an impending wedding day adding to people's desires to look and feel their best for such a special occasion, it can certainly add to the pressure. Fortunately, sports nutrition experts Bulk have highlighted five ways to stay fit and healthy during a busy work week. Change your commute; while it may seem like taking just a few steps to your car and driving to work will save you more time in the day than walking, it's not as practical as it may sound.
