On the hunt for the latest bridal designs on the what's-hot list for your big day? Ruth Beard, creative director at Hampshire's Amaryllis Bridal Boutique in Alton shares her top tips and predictions for 2019 brides.
* Lace, appliqué, motifs and sparkle will always be darlings in the bridal world, but following on from the glory of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex's Givenchy clean-lines wedding gown, our prediction for 2019 is that we will see yet more minimalism.
* The designer catwalks are increasing their offerings of block colour gowns based simply on style and silhouette in exquisitely cut luxe fabrics. This effortless sophistication still manages the wow factor and keeping things simple allows a bride to truly personalise her vision of the dream dress.
* Sleeved wedding dresses are a no-brainer given the recent royal weddings, but are not for everyone. The time of year and venue may also dictate practicalities however, floaty and opulent capes will be big news whatever the weather!
* Cassidy by Maggie Sottero (pictured) is a perfect example of the versatility a minimalist block colour gown offers. Dramatic looks can be created, catering for the varying stages of a bride's wedding day, by cleverly detailed accessories such as a simple bolero jacket or bridal sash.
