Couples looking for a romantic rustic setting for their big day, could soon be able to marry at Marshwood Manor; a picturesque location set in the glorious Dorset countryside.
Currently a self-catering getaway with six holiday cottages on the 22-acre estate, proposals are in hand to cater for weddings. Plans have been submitted to convert the Victorian brick barn into a wedding space licensed for ceremonies, while the games room and laundries will be turned into a kitchen and large lounge bar. The courtyard, originally for the Victorian stables and milking parlour, will be transformed into a large gravelled space with trees; ideal for parties, drinks or outdoor ceremonies.
Owners Romla and Julian Ryan are also hoping to have an outdoor area licensed for ceremonies within their copse of private ancient woodland. “We had an original oak porch, which we believe came from the old village church, which we've used as a stunning and meaningful centrepiece in our woodland space. Using only wood from the woodland itself, we've also built two bridges across the stream and an amphitheatre of logs to seat up to 80 guests,” adds Romla.
Although you can't officially marry here yet, the woodland space is already available for viewing and outdoor celebrations.
