March/April 2022

March/April 2022

Personally I love this time of year, although the weather’s still nippy, there’s the promise of sunny days ahead and the spring flowers are coming into bloom. I don’t know about you, but from the moment the nights start getting lighter, I immediately feel more energised. The days seem longer and it’s great to leave home and return from work in the daylight. With the clocks going forward at the end of March, I’m preparing to get to grips with all those niggling tasks at home that I’ve mothballed over the winter. So, if like me, you’ve been a bit sluggish with the to-do list over the winter, now is the time to get cracking. Whether you’re in the ‘postponed from 2020’ camp, the ‘original 2021’ crew or your status is ‘newly engaged’, the wedding planning will be gathering momentum in the coming months – and you’ve come to the right place for help and inspiration! This issue is crammed with tips and advice on everything from the wedding catering to lovely local venues, real weddings, fabulous photo shoots and more to showcase what’s on offer in the region. And if you’re looking to nail your wedding day bridal style, we’ve got you covered from pages 59 to 78 with everything from hair and beauty, to fashion and accessories. Packed with all the regular features, honeymoons, inspiration and more, we’re excited and hope you are too!

Enjoy!

Gorwell Farm

Create the wedding of your dreams at this versatile venue. Set in a valley on Dorset’s south coast, it ticks all the boxes for a truly bespoke celebration. The light and airy 17th-century stone barn is big enough to seat up to 130 guests, there’s space for dancing, a bar and all the facilities and freedom you need to enjoy your day in perfect peace. With natural beams and stone walls, the barn provides the perfect backdrop to add your own personal touch to suit your big-day style and theme. Licensed for ceremonies, you can tie the knot inside or outside in the pagoda underneath a beautiful beech tree on the outskirts of the woods. The spacious outdoor area provides extra room for guests and is ideal for a marquee or party tent. Surrounded by nature, with an abundance of greenery, trees and flowers, there’s no shortage of wonderful photo opportunities. Hired over three days, you can enjoy a stress-free experience with time to set up, tie the knot and relax afterwards.

Are your parents contributing to your wedding day?

Are your parents contributing to your wedding day?

New research from Wealthify has found that just over a third (35.7%) of parents in the UK plan to contribute financially to their children's weddings.

More than 40% of parents in the UK plan to contribute between £1,000 and £5,000 with an additional quarter planning to contribute between £5,000 to £15,000 on their children's big days. A further 1 in 10 plan to fork out a substantial £15,000 to £30,000.

In a post-pandemic world, where many celebrations were cancelled or postponed, Brits are celebrating their nuptials in a big way. Data shows that we are spending more than ever, and London parents are the most generous on average, willing to cough up £14,757.14 to see their children tie the knot.
