January/February 2022 |
|
Welcome to this landmark edition of Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding! We’re 90 issues young and despite all the challenges of the past nearly two years, we’re here raising a glass to our special anniversary and all the weddings to come. It’s been tough for everyone, but throughout the restrictions and uncertainty, one of the many shining lights has been the resilience of the wedding industry and couples patiently waiting for their big day. Many had to cancel their weddings last year, some multiple times, before finally being able to tie the knot once lockdowns eased. Suppliers have rallied to provide support, pulling out all the stops to help people reschedule and adapt their plans. This issue we’re lucky enough to be able share a tiny snapshot of just some of the weddings that have taken place in the region – proof, if proof were needed, that love wins no matter what! With the Christmas and New Year proposal season adding to demand, we’re looking forward to bringing you lots more lovely local weddings to inspire and excite you in the months ahead.
For those starting out 2022 with a sparkly new ring on their finger, firstly congratulations from your new best friend! We’ll be here throughout your journey with all the latest wedding trends, bridal fashion and beauty insight, local venues, suppliers and wedding news from your doorstep. And when your day comes, which it surely will, don’t forget to stay in touch for your chance to share the joy with our readers. Just click here to get involved.
Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2022!

The Port House
If you’re looking for a stunning waterside location for your big day, this versatile venue ticks all the boxes. Overlooking the Port Solent Marina, with views of the yachts, it’s a picture-perfect spot! There’s outside seating too so you can make the most of the setting. The waterfront terrace and patio is perfect for reception drinks or a barbecue when the weather’s fine.
Inside the bright and airy space, the contemporary furnishing includes a bespoke bar made from reclaimed railway sleepers and a feature ceiling. Ceremonies are held in the Regatta Room or the larger Ocean Suite which can host up to 120 family and friends for your ‘I dos’ followed by a sit-down meal. For larger receptions with up to 300 guests, a marquee can be attached to the side.

Have your cake AND eat it! |

Kasey Clarke, Founder of Sweet Cakey Thing, explains how certain ingredients used in baking can actually be better for your skin compared to some moisturisers, leaving your skin looking hydrated and glowing. We all dreamt of smothering ourselves in cake as a child, yet even then, that sort of behaviour wouldn't go down too well at the dinner table. However, founder of Sweet Cakey Thing, Kasey Clarke, is here to explain why covering ourselves in cake is absolutely a good thing, as long as the ingredients are too. Here, she shares seven baking ingredients, which will help keep skin nourished and hydrated, making your skincare routine a piece of cake, literally.
