In an English country garden Lucy and Toby’s intimate wedding was a triumph of love and nature Images courtesy of Alisa Roberts Photography L ucy and Toby met at work and were instantly drawn to each other and after a few short months were already the best of friends. Sharing a love of music, good food and the great outdoors, friendship soon blossomed into romance. On a getaway to Cornwall in August 2020 Toby popped the question on the beach in St Mawes. “He proposed on the first morning we were there and it was a complete surprise! He had visions of it being a beautiful, picturesque affair, but the weather had other ideas,” reveals Lucy. “He took me on a walk in the pouring rain and just before I could complain and turn back, he got down on one knee. It was a beautiful moment, made even better as he’d booked an appointment in Truro for later that day for me to choose my own engagement ring. Looking back now, we wouldn’t have had it any other way.” They tied the knot on 15 th April this year in The Orangery at Houghton Lodge Gardens, Hampshire followed by a reception on The Terrace.
